The Iraqi Institution for Development (IID) is an Iraqi NGO founded in 2003 that promotes sustainable development and community resilience. IID supports climate- and conflict-affected communities through climate adaptation, disaster risk reduction, sustainable livelihoods, and environmental protection. Its work addresses loss and damage by tackling water scarcity, land degradation, and climate-related displacement. Through strong partnerships with government and international actors, IID delivers locally driven solutions that strengthen climate resilience and environmental justice in Iraq.

Thomas Lennartz is a loss and damage, disaster risk management, and climate resilience specialist with 20 years of experience across Asia, Africa, and LAC. He has designed and implemented approaches for economic and non-economic L&D, hazard and risk analysis, damage assessments, climate adaptation, and recovery. His expertise includes climate-induced migration, disaster displacement, and voluntary planned relocation. He has supported national planning processes, including India’s first NAP, and led capacity development at local, national, and regional levels.

Tigran Sukiasyan is a climate finance and adaptation specialist with 20+ years of development policy and project management experience. Over the past decade, Tigran Sukiasyan has developed 30+ GCF, Adaptation Fund and FRLD concept notes and full proposals, supporting 40+ developing countries—particularly LDCs, SIDS and fragile contexts—to translate climate risks into finance-ready investment pathways. His work spans climate-resilient project design, climate risk and loss-and-damage drivers assessment, and strengthening national systems that protect vulnerable populations, ecosystems and infrastructure from escalating climate impacts.

Tom D’Haeyer is an international consultant with over two decades of experience in IWRM, climate adaptation and resilience, and disaster risk management. His work includes climate vulnerability assessments, design and implementation of adaptation strategies, NDC-related work, design of early warning systems, advising on the design of loss and damage databases and implementation of the Enhanced Transparency Framework. Tom has led projects in all continents. Tom holds a Master’s degree in Agricultural Engineering, and an Executive MBA. He is an AGWA Fellow, and nominated UNFCCC Roster of Expert.
