The African Risk Capacity (ARC) Agency is a Specialized Agency of the African Union established to help African governments improve their capacities to better plan, prepare, and respond to extreme weather events and disasters. Through collaboration and innovative financing, ARC Agency enables countries to strengthen their disaster risk management systems and access rapid and predictable financing when disaster strikes to protect the food security and livelihoods of their vulnerable populations.

Agostino Goretti, Ph.D. in Structural Engineering, is a senior disaster risk management expert working part-time at the Italian Civil Protection Department. In the early stages of his professional career, he was involved in all phases of seismic risk management at both national and local levels. He subsequently expanded his interests and skills to adopt a multi-hazard integrated approach, including the effects of climate change and the development of resilient infrastructure. Over the past years, he has been managing large national and regional technical assistance projects on disaster risk management in the Balkans, North Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.

Akairo Consulting is a Rarotonga‑based consulting company supporting climate change adaptation and community resilience in the Cook Islands, across the Pacific and Small Island Development States. They aim to deliver high‑quality, culturally informed and technically robust research, policy advice and project management services responsive to Pacific priorities. They provide Pacific‑led demand‑driven assistance for communities facing climate related loss and damage through climate mobility and mental health research, adaptation and climate finance assessments.
