The African Centre for Technology Studies (ACTS) is a pan-African research and policy organisation that advances climate resilience, sustainable development and evidence-based decision-making through research, policy analysis and capacity-building. With more than 35 years of experience, ACTS supports governments, communities and regional institutions in climate risk assessment, loss and damage analysis, climate modelling, adaptation planning and stakeholder engagement. The organisation combines scientific research, systems modelling and policy dialogue to strengthen climate resilience and support inclusive responses to climate-related risks and impacts across Africa.

African Group of Negotiators Experts Support is an African expert organization that bridges evidence and policy in climate change processes. Established in 2018, it provides technical knowledge to inform common African positions in climate negotiations and supports national policy development. Its work includes evidence generation, policy advice, knowledge exchange, capacity building and loss and damage-related support, drawing on African experts and practitioners with strong regional expertise and a focus on locally grounded climate action.

The African Population and Health Research Center generates evidence for policy, including on loss and damage in urban and pastoralist settings in Kenya. Its work focuses on water, health and sanitation, informal economies and livelihoods, rangelands, sub-national frameworks and local technical capacity for climate finance. With a large multidisciplinary team of researchers, policy specialists and operations staff, the Center contributes to research, training and capacity building to support evidence-based decision-making for vulnerable populations in Africa.

The African Risk Capacity (ARC) Agency is a Specialized Agency of the African Union established to help African governments improve their capacities to better plan, prepare, and respond to extreme weather events and disasters. Through collaboration and innovative financing, ARC Agency enables countries to strengthen their disaster risk management systems and access rapid and predictable financing when disaster strikes to protect the food security and livelihoods of their vulnerable populations.

Agostino Goretti, Ph.D. in Structural Engineering, is a senior disaster risk management expert working part-time at the Italian Civil Protection Department. In the early stages of his professional career, he was involved in all phases of seismic risk management at both national and local levels. He subsequently expanded his interests and skills to adopt a multi-hazard integrated approach, including the effects of climate change and the development of resilient infrastructure. Over the past years, he has been managing large national and regional technical assistance projects on disaster risk management in the Balkans, North Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.

They provide Pacific‑led demand‑driven assistance for communities facing climate related loss and damage through climate mobility and mental health research, adaptation and climate finance assessments.

He helps countries translate climate risks into practical adaptation, investment and financing strategies, with particular experience in small island, coastal and Central Asian contexts affected by sea-level rise, extreme events and slow-onset climate processes.
