The African Risk Capacity (ARC) Agency is a Specialized Agency of the African Union established to help African governments improve their capacities to better plan, prepare, and respond to extreme weather events and disasters. Through collaboration and innovative financing, ARC Agency enables countries to strengthen their disaster risk management systems and access rapid and predictable financing when disaster strikes to protect the food security and livelihoods of their vulnerable populations.

Agostino Goretti, Ph.D. in Structural Engineering, is a senior disaster risk management expert working part-time at the Italian Civil Protection Department. In the early stages of his professional career, he was involved in all phases of seismic risk management at both national and local levels. He subsequently expanded his interests and skills to adopt a multi-hazard integrated approach, including the effects of climate change and the development of resilient infrastructure. Over the past years, he has been managing large national and regional technical assistance projects on disaster risk management in the Balkans, North Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.

The Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC) is an autonomous international organization committed to building resilience in Asia and the Pacific by enhancing disaster risk reduction (DRR) and climate change adaptation (CCA). This mission aligns with the Santiago Network’s goal of providing technical assistance to developing countries, ensuring they are equipped to address climate-induced loss and damage, particularly through risk management, resilience-building, and recovery solutions tailored to vulnerable communities.

ADN’s mission aligns with the Santiago Network’s objectives by preventing disaster-related deaths, especially those exacerbated by climate change, through research, enhancing policymaking, fostering networks, and facilitating knowledge exchange.
